Our
candles are designed to burn for 3 hours at a time (about 1
hour per inch in diameter). If the candle is burned for
periods less than this, the candle will start to
"tunnel" (burns down the center leaving wax on the
sides of the container). You can prevent tunneling by
making sure you burn the candle for the appropriate
time. If it starts to tunnel and has not gone too far
then you might be able to correct it by burning the candle for
a longer period of time.
Wicks should be trimmed every 3-4 hours of
burning. So with our candles, if burned the recommended
time period, you should trim the wick prior to each use.
Our wicks will easily trim without the use of
scissors (after the first burn). Before re-lighting,
pinch in the charred tip with a tissue. The tip will
break off the perfect place almost every time
(approximately 1/4" above the wax line). If the
wick is longer than this, trim to 1/4" using scissors.
If your candle starts burning to one side,
adjust the wick or check for a draft. All natural wicks
do not stay in place as well as the metal core wicks, so you
may need to adjust the wick occasionally.
Any candle flame can smoke if the candle is
not burning efficiently. Other brands of candles will
smoke because of the petroleum levels in them. Our
candles will not smoke if you trim the wicks per these
instructions. If one of our candles smokes either remove
the candle from the draft and/or trim the wick. Because
soy candles burn slower than paraffin, we must use thicker
wicks to melt the wax to the edge. The wicks will tend
to cause smoke if they are not kept trimmed.
WICKS MUST BE TRIMMED WITH EVERY USE!
DO NOT MOVE CANDLE WHILE BURNING OR WHILE
WAX IS HOT!
NEVER LEAVE CANDLES BURNING UNATTENDED!
KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS
Do not burn candle
when wax reaches 1/2" from bottom.
